CO2 Fixation with Epoxides under Mild Conditions with a Cooperative Metal Corrole/Quaternary Ammonium Salt Catalyst System
The cooperative catalytic activity of several metal corrole complexes in combination with tetrabutyl-ammonium bromide (TBAB) has been investigated for the reaction of epoxides with CO2 leading to cyclic carbonates. It was found that the use of just 0.05 mol % of a manganese(III)corrole with 2 mol % TBAB exhibits excellent catalytic activity under an atmosphere of CO2 .

Hollow-structured Si/SiC@C nanospheres were prepared through a magnesiothermic reduction of resin-coated SiO2 spheres. These nanostructured materials with high surface area not only show high adsorption capacities of industrial dyes from wastewater, but also exhibit excellent catalytic activities for chemical fixation of CO2 under mild, solvent-free conditions.
متن کاملMetal–Organic Framework-Based Catalysts: Chemical Fixation of CO2 with Epoxides Leading to Cyclic Organic Carbonates
M. Hassan Beyzavi , Casey J. Stephenson and Yangyang Liu have contributed equally to this work. As a C1 feedstock, CO2 has the potential to be uniquely highly economical in both a chemical and a financial sense. In particular, the highly atom-economical acid-catalyzed cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides to yield cyclic organic carbonates (OCs), a functionality having many important industrial appl...
متن کاملGuanidine Hydrochloride/ZnI2 as Heterogeneous Catalyst for Conversion of CO2 and Epoxides to Cyclic Carbonates under Mild Conditions
In this article, the combination of guanidine hydrochloride with co-catalyst ZnI2 proved to be a highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the environmentally benign, solvent-free synthesis of cyclic carbonates under mild reaction conditions. The effects of different co-catalysts as well as reaction parameters including catalyst loadings, CO2 pressure, reaction temperature, and reaction time ...
متن کاملPolyoxometalate-supported ruthenium nanoparticles as bifunctional heterogeneous catalysts for the conversions of cellobiose and cellulose into sorbitol under mild conditions.
Ru nanoparticles loaded on a Keggin-type polyoxometalate (Cs(3)PW(12)O(40)), which did not possess strong intrinsic acidity, efficiently catalysed the conversions of cellobiose and cellulose into sorbitol in water medium in H(2) at ≤433 K. The Brønsted acid sites generated in situ from H(2) have been demonstrated to play a key role in the formation of sorbitol.
